New from MacPherson—The M2X Version 2 Loudspeaker

SKOKIE, IL, October 17, 2001 --- MacPherson, Inc., manufacturers of high-performance professional loudspeaker systems, is now shipping their M2X Version 2 loudspeaker.

Compact and versatile, the 2-way loudspeaker retains the physical characteristics of the popular M2X, while offering significant improvements in sonic performance. The bi-amplified loudspeaker is equally effective used singly or in arrays. Whatever the application, M2X Version 2 listeners will enjoy true high-fidelity reproduction.

Key Improvements

The M2X Version 2 features performance improvements to both the low-frequency (LF) and high-frequency (HF) sections. A new high-power, 15-inch LF driver has been incorporated, offering greater definition and an overall "warmer" sound. As an added benefit, this new LF driver requires no filter network, minimizing undesired phase changes and preserving output sensitivity.

A custom-designed damping insert has been added to the 2-inch-exit HF compression driver, reducing the standing waves that can be created by the driver’s rear mechanical system. A completely redesigned HF filter network shapes and controls the response of the compression driver. These changes combine to provide tight low-frequency response, excellent vocal clarity, and extended high-frequency reproduction.

The M2X Version 2’s compact, trapezoid-shaped enclosure has been designed for use in a wide variety of applications. With its extended frequency response, the M2X Version 2 is equally effective whether used singly, in stereo pairs or in horizontal arrays. For stand mounting, an integral cast-aluminum pole cup allows quick setup. Versions are also available to support overhead-suspension applications. For long life and durability, the cabinet is constructed using hardwood plywood and finished with a rugged epoxy coating.

Options

Although no special processing is necessary, several options are available to complement the M2X Version 2. A MacPherson Black Box Stereo Analog Controller is offered for ease-of-installation. A Crown P.I.P.®-compatible module is also available. Road cases are available to transport two or four M2X Version 2 cabinets.
